Ministerial meeting with residents cancelled
The office of NSW minister for transport, Gladys Berejiklian, has today cancelled a Meet the Minister event set down for 29th July. Quoting from last week's announcement of the event by 2119.org:

<i>BREAK-THROUGH...North West Rail Link.  Following much resident disquiet about downsizing proposed for the North West Rail Link, NSW Transport Minister, Hon Gladys Berejiklian, has kindly agreed to address Beecroft-Cheltenham residents and others interested in this major rail project.</i>

The downsizing referred to is the diameter for tunnels to be bored between Epping and Bella Vista; the chosen bore is 6 metres, slightly too small for use by trains with carriages the size of existing Sydney double-deckers.

The cancellation was apparently because a party official had failed to pass meeting details to the minister's office soon enough.
