North West Rail Link - Detailed route released - Comment invited
On 5 June 2007 the NSW Minister for Transport released the preferred alignment for
the North West Rail Link (NWRL) between Epping and Rouse Hill.
Following initial community consultation, two modifications have been made to the project:
- A direct tunnel connection between Epping and the new Franklin Road Station; and
- Realignment of Norwest Station approximately 100 metres east of the original concept location.
The NWRL is proposed to be built in two stages, with the first stage between Epping and Hills Centre
Station proposed to be operational by 2015, and the second stage between Hills Centre Station and
Rouse Hill by 2017.
The Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation (TIDC) will be holding a series of community
information sessions over the next month.
Further public comment is invited during the public exhibition period, with submissions to be
sent to the Department of Planning.
The preferred project report will be on public display until Monday, 9 July.
The report can be viewed online at
http://www.tidc.nsw.gov.au/
or at a number of display locations throughout north-west Sydney.
