Labor Party looks at infrastructure financing
The ALP is conducting an inquiry into Australia's infrastructure needs, and how best to finance the infrastructure that will deliver sustained economic growth.
Issues to be examined include:
<ul>
<li>the scope for governments to invest directly in public infrastructure
<li>the scope and conditions for private sector involvement in the provision of public infrastructure including through appropriate Public Private Partnerships
<li>the most equitable, cost-effective and fair methods of finance
<li>ways to maximise effective public ownership, management and maintenance of public infrastructure
<li>the potential role of the superannuation industry in financing public infrastructure.
