APTNSW suggestion for Federal Budget

posted Wednesday 5 March 2014
Action for Public Transport has asked the Federal Treasurer Joe Hockey to review the current rules governing the provision of cars in employee salary packages, sometimes referred to as "novated leases".

The practice is supposed to support the local car manufacturing industry, but with the entire industry due to close by 2017, a number of commentators have observed that removing the perk could contribute up to $1.8 billion to the budget bottom line.
