Road Access Pricing

On 13th May, Action for Public Transport appeared before the New South Wales Legislative Assembly's Transport and Infrastructure Committee, which was inquiring into the development and implementation of a road access pricing strategy. We had earlier filed a written submission.
We told the Committee that NSW is uniquely well placed to implement road pricing around Sydney for two reasons:
- The politics are such that the Government could implement a relatively unpopular measure with little to fear from an electoral backlash.
- Sydney's suburbs are cut into sectors by a number of rivers and other natural features in such a way that it would be possible to implement road pricing by installing a limited number of toll points on bridges etc. which join those sectors.
