New Transport Advisory Board

On 4 July 2012 the Minister for Transport announced the establishment of a new Transport Advisory Board to provide "high level" advice to the government and its Transport for NSW agency.

The members are:

Tim Besley, Chair - former Chairman of construction giant Leighton Holdings.

Paul Forward - Principal of transport consultancy Evans and Peck. Former CEO of Roads and Traffic Authority (1999 to 2005) when controversially dismissed by then Roads Minister, Joe Tripodi, over disputes associated with the building of the Cross City (road) Tunnel. (Ref. Sydney Morning Herald online 10.6.2006). Past Chairman of Austroads.

Brendan Lyon - CEO of Infrastructure Partnerships Australia, seen by some as Australia's chief infrastructure lobby group. Favours preservation of the corridors for a future East Coast High Speed Train.

Andrea Staines - Non-executive Director of railway operator QR National and former director of Australian Rail Track Corporation. Former CEO of Australian Airlines. Served in financial roles at Qantas and American Airlines.

Les Wielinga - Current Director-General of state transport agency Transport for NSW.
