RailCorp's corporate plan 2012-2013

posted Saturday 2 June 2012
This recent statement by RailCorp contains no hints that train speeds might soon be restored to pre-2005 levels. Although there is an objective "to operate and maintain a world-class railway" (page 9) and there is a responsibility "to get customers to their destinations on time" (page 7) and there will be "quick and reliable trains in the greater Sydney suburban area" (page 13) there is no mention of speed as such. Passenger loading times are to be "improved" (page 9) but only at major stations. Ticket sales and information will be fast but trains won't be.

Oddly, passengers on long-distance services are not considered to be interested in speed at all (page 13).

The plan can be see at http://www.railcorp.info/about_railcorp/corporate_plan, where there is a public facility for entering comments by 29 June.
