NSW transport master plan stumbles

posted Thursday 24 May 2012
Transport for NSW has cut a set of advisory committee meetings that were to happen in the first few days of June. A letter to advisory committee members from the Chair (Carolyn McNally) states:

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your participation at the Advisory Group meetings held to date, we have made significant progress over the last 6 months. I would also like to thank those of you who made a formal submission to the NSW Long Term Transport Master Plan Discussion Paper.

As noted at the previous meeting the response received was overwhelming, with over 1200 submissions received from the public, which the team is now reviewing and is busy collating the information for consideration in the draft Master Plan.

Given this, I have decided to defer the next round of Advisory Group meetings to be held the week of 4th June. In place of this, I am proposing a combined Advisory Group meeting to be held shortly around the draft Plan's release. This will enable us to present the draft plan and have some active discussion on how the draft Plan can be strengthened as we undertake work on the final Plan.

It will also provide you all with an opportunity to meet with members of the other Advisory Groups, be briefed on the draft Plan and provide commentary to inform the final Master Plan. I will be back in touch with details of the combined Advisory Group meeting shortly.

Meanwhile, Infrastructure NSW continues to develop its vision for transport.
