Diesel fumes at Central railway station

posted Tuesday 22 May 2012
You may have wondered why the XPTs on platforms 1-3 no longer drive right up to the buffers but stop about 70 metres short. Apparently it's to reduce the nuisance of exhaust fumes blowing into the main concourse.

And the locomotive at the concourse end may be shut down during long stays at the platform.
