Report card on the O'Farrell government

Just one year after its election, we ask how well the NSW government has performed. In the matter of public transport, what has NSW accomplished? What has it not accomplished? What has it done wrong?

Accomplishments: Restoration of some ferry services
Removing planning powers from the former Roads and Traffic Authority, although it is too soon for the effectiveness of this to be assessed
Failures: It is still too complicated to buy bus tickets for pre-pay services such as Metro buses
Many bus windows are covered with advertising, making it very difficult to see out especially in wet weather
Errors: Planning the north-west railway without providing more capacity between about Redfern and St Leonards, including a new line under the CBD and crossing the harbour somehow. The north-west railway cannot succeed without more capacity.
