Sydney Airport - Master Plan on display for public comment
posted Sunday 28 September 2008
Sydney Airport has released its latest five year review of the
Airport Master Plan for public consultation. The revised plan
forecasts an increase to 78.9 million passengers, 402,000 aircraft
movements and over one million tonnes of freight annually by 2029.
The Master Plan assumes that there will be no changes to the curfew,
aircraft flight paths, the aircraft movement cap, or access arrangements for regional airlines, and no new runways.
However, the Airport remains outside state and local planning
frameworks, and involves proposed land use zones that have no
equivalent in local or state government planning documents.
The transport impacts are likely to be considerable, particularly in terms of increases in road traffic on the surrounding streets and motorways. Bus services are likely to be affected.
Submissions close on Tuesday 16 December 2008.
