Performance Audit of Transitways
posted Monday 6 June 2005
The Audit Office of NSW has commenced a Performance Audit of Bus Transitways. Performance audits examine the efficiency, effectiveness, economy (and in certain circumstances, compliance aspects) of a particular government activity. This audit looks in particular at Sydney's first Transitway between Liverpool and Parramatta, opened in February 2003. Given that further Transitways are proposed, the audit is also examining factors for success, and any issues requiring careful management as a result of experience with the first Transitway.
As well as consulting with the government agencies involved in planning, building and operating the Transitway, the Audit Office has also invited other stakeholders and community groups, including APT, to discuss issues with them.
The Audit Report, expected to be released in December 2005, will present the findings of the audit, as well as recommendations for improvements in the future.
Having been drawn into the world of audit by this discussion, APT has found that the Audit Office web site provides a wealth of information that could be useful to those interested in the NSW transport scene:
