The February/March 2004 edition of “Hub and Spoke”, the journal of the NRMA (National Roads and Motorists’ Association) contains the result of a reader survey on the relative importance of various road and traffic issues.
The twenty issues that the NRMA nominated for rating by drivers included matters relating to the condition of the roads, funding, signs, speed zones, fines, congestion, vehicles, technology, public transport, pedestrians, etc – all of them worthy subjects for consideration.
However, it seems to APT that a very important issue was omitted – the condition of the driver, including incompetence, impatience, inattention, impetuosity and inebriation. Or are accidents always someone else’s fault?
