On 20th February, a contract was signed between the NSW government and Integrated Transit Solutions Ltd (ITS) , a subsidiary of ERG, to provide an integrated smart card covering the Sydney-wide transport system. APT cautiously welcomes such a move provided that the end result is an integrated fare system as well as an integrated ticket system. Feedback that we get indicates that the integrated ticket will charge users full fare for every separate journey made, eliminating the current discounts for pre-purchased multi-ride tickets. APT has asked the Department of Transport to invite commuter groups to be full participating stakeholders in the design of the system, instead of just being told what is happening. So far we have received no response.
